ANDERSON, Alexander. Erie County, PA--Unknown). In 1842 Anderson emigrated westward and settled in Dubuque. He worked as a surveyor. In 1855 Anderson drafted a map of the mineral lots of Dubuque which was still used as authority at the end of the 19th century.

Anderson was also involved in the DUBUQUE CENTRAL IMPROVEMENT COMPANY which was organized on January 23, 1857, with a capital of $2,100,000. The corporators including Anderson were Jesse P. FARLEY, Franklin V. Goodrich, Austin J. Goss, Robert C. Waples, Christopher PELAN, Robert M. Walmsley, and Frederick E. BISSELL. (1)

In 1906 he was among those celebrated members of the EARLY SETTLERS' ASSOCIATION. (2)
