A RIPPLE EFFECT
A RIPPLE EFFECT. Located in 2017 at 491 W. 4th Street, A Ripple Effect was opened in 2008 by Patty Jackson, a retired teacher, to sell fair-trade products.
Fair-trade products including jewelry, pottery, baskets, coffee mugs, clothing, sculptures and food products were manufactured by people in developing countries. The items were then purchased by nonprofit companies at a fair wage and resold. The intended effect was to give people an opportunity to rise out of poverty rather than work at low wages.
