CAPITOL
CAPITOL THEATER. Beginning in the 1930s, the Capitol Theater, located at 2205 Central, entertained thousands of Dubuque residents.
Owned by Joseph Diener, the Capitol had formerly been the FAMILY THEATER until purchased and remodeled by Diener in 1925. Its great opening was held on December 13, 1925. (1)
The Capitol remained in operation until 1954 when it was demolished and replaced by a drug store owned by the HARTIG DRUG COMPANY.
