AUTOMOBILE INSTITUTE
AUTOMOBILE INSTITUTE. A pioneering effort introducing automobile maintenance to their owners. A unique educational project in the United States begun in Iowa, the institute was designed by the Engineering Extension Department of Iowa State College (now university) in 1914. Sponsored in Dubuque with the cooperation of the Dubuque Automobile Club, the institute was held April 2-4, 1914, free-of-charge at Germania Hall.
With the use of lectures, slides, and charts, the institute taught new car owners the mechanics of automobiles and how to take care of their investment.
