IOWA IRON WORKS. Major participant in Dubuque's BOAT BUILDING. The Iowa Iron Works was founded in 1852 as the iron foundry and machine shop of Rouse, Dean and Company on the corner of 9th and Washington STREETS. The company was eventually renamed Rouse and Dean. This name was changed to the Iowa Iron Works and later the DUBUQUE BOAT AND BOILER WORKS.
