AMERICA'S RIVER FESTIVAL. This event was first held in 2004 in the Port of Dubuque and is annually hosted the second weekend of June. The America’s River Festival was created to celebrate the river and the port area. Audiences enjoy live musical performances from regional and national acts, bring their dogs to participate in the Dock Dogs competition and enjoy a mixture of entertainment for all ages. (1)

In 2014 despite attendance 4,000 less than in 2013 when the event lost $150,000, promoters were declaring the event a financial success. Nearly 3,000 attended the country acts while 5,200 watched the rock-themed performances. (2)
