ART DETECTIVE. In 1980 James Welu, LORAS COLLEGE graduate and the curator of the Worcester (MA) Art Museum, found among the items to be sold by a church in Massachusetts a lost painting by Andrea del Sarto, one of the master artists of the Italian Renaissance.

The painting, dating between 1517 and 1520, shows John the Baptist. Incorrectly attributed to a contemporary of del Sarto, the portrait had been last exhibited in 1863.
