LYON, George T. (Dubuque, IA, Feb. 21, 1873--Dubuque, IA, Mar. 14, 1934). The son of D.E. LYON and Eunice (Taylor) Lyon, George attended Upper Iowa University at Fayette. He studied law at the University of Iowa and graduated in 1895.

The law firm, comprised of father and son, was named attorney for the Chicago Great Western railroad when that system extended its line to and through Dubuque. George T. Lyon held the position of city attorney for four terms, a total of eight years.

He was a great lover of sports. While attending Upper Iowa, he won a letter at baseball. Lyon was also one of Dubuque's finest bowlers. Several times city champion, Lyon was a member of the Vici Club, composed of the best bowlers in the city. He was an avic fisherman and hunter. He was a member of the First Congregational Church (later FIRST CONGREGATIONAL UNITED CHURCH OF CHRIST, Dubuque County Bar Association, Phi Delta Phi legal fraternity, and the Dubuque lodge of Elks.
