JAEGER, Adam Francis Jr. (Hesse-Darmstadt, Germany,Feb. 27, 1838--Dubuque, IA, Aug. 1, 1894). MAYOR. Jaeger, son of Adam Francis JAEGER, was a distiller and wholesale wine and liquor merchant. Jaeger's parents emigrated to America in 1839, and came to Iowa and located in Dubuque in 1840.
Jaeger was a business partner of Liberat Alphonse "L.A." RHOMBERG of the firm JAEGER & RHOMBERG. (1) In later years he was associated with L. A. Lang under the firm name of JAEGER, LANG AND COMPANY, in the wholesale liquor business.
Jaeger was elected alderman in 1866 and served until 1874. On September 5,1872, he was appointed to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of then Mayor Solomon TURCK.
