HARKETT, William A. (England, 1848-Dubuque, IA, Sept. 25,1934). Harkett, operator of the Dubuque Floral Nurseries, the largest nursery in eastern Iowa, became one of the few in the nation in 1880 to earn a living cultivating new varieties of plants.
Harkett operated five heated greenhouses and shipped his plants throughout the United States.
