HEALEY, Susie Moreing Burr. (Dubuque, IA, Jan. 5, 1856-Unknown). Founder, National Society of the Women of the CIVIL WAR. Healey, one of Dubuque's most prominent women, served as president of the church federation of women, member of the directorate of the Y.W.CA., and secretary of the city federation of clubs.
Accustomed to spending winters in California, Healey served as superintendent of the San Joaquin County Building during the mid-winter fair in San Francisco and was appointed to posts of responsibility with the Panama Exposition of 1914. An avid traveler, it was said Healey traveled the continent forty-two times and once around the world.
