TRANSMISSION ELECTRON MICROSCOPE. State-of-the-art scientific instrument. Nicknamed TEM, the microscope passes electrons rather than light through a subject and is capable of 200,000-power magnification. The first such microscope in Dubuque was acquired by the biology department of the UNIVERSITY OF DUBUQUE in 1987 and installed in Goldthorp Hall.
