FLORA PARK. Westside park created through the generous donation of $21,760 by Harry WAHLERT. Given to the city in April 1954, the money was for the purchase of twenty-seven acres of land from William S. MOLO. Intended only as a pool site, the park was expanded by thirty-eight acres to develop an all-purpose recreational park.

Wahlert made a second donation of $100,000 to accomplish this expansion. To round out the park's irregular boundaries, an additional ten acres were added later. The park was named by the Dubuque Park Department in memory of Wahlert's wife, Flora.
