CHRISTMAN, Augustus. (Pennsylvania, Sept. 8, 1836-- ). Merchant. Christman's parents came to Iowa in 1837 and located in Dubuque. Following service in the CIVIL WAR, he engaged in the dry-goods trade. He established his own business in 1869 and was soon joined by his brother. The firm of J. AND A. CHRISTMAN AND COMPANY located at 672 Main Street were dealers in dry goods and notions.
