SATER, H. H. (Norway, 1842--- ). Superintendent of the manufacturing department of the NORWEGIAN PLOW COMPANY. Sater emigrated to America in 1868, He came West to Wisconsin the same year and engaged in blacksmithing and was a natural mechanic, inheriting it from his father, who was a plow-maker. Mr. Sater began making plows on a small scale, and by giving close attention to his work soon earned a reputation for his quality.

In May 1875, in association with others, Sater began manufacturing the Norwegian Plow at Brodhead, Wisconsin. In June 1879, the Norwegian Plow Company was organized. In October, the company moved to Dubuque and erected larger works. Sater was elected superintendent of the manufacturing department.
