GEORGE RATH AND SON. Founded around 1871, the 1873-74 Dubuque City Directory listed George Rath as Clay and 12th.

The 1875-1876 Dubuque City Directory gave the address of as 1203 Clay.

The 1878-79 Dubuque City Directory listed the corner of Clay and 12th.

The 1884-1885 Dubuque City Directory listed George Rath & Company as 1203 Clay.

The 1886-87 Dubuque City Directory listed 1203 to 1205 Clay.

The 1890-91 Dubuque City Directory listed 12th and Clay. The company burned to the ground on February 7, 1891. The first building of the company had been constructed by Rath and Henry S. HETHERINGTON with others added over the years. (1)
