MCGOVERN, Francis. (Dubuque County, IA, Nov. 16, 1916-Dubuque, IA, Sept. 18, 1989). Founder, McGovern Hardware. McGovern, a farmer in the Peosta, Iowa, area until 1954, founded and then operated McGovern Hardware unti1 1972. He was then associated with Westside Realty until his retirement in 1981. McGovern was a charter member and organizer of the Thunderhills Golf and Country Club.
