ST. CLOUD. According to the 1857-1858 Dubuque City Directory, this hotel was located on the east side of Main from 9th to 10th.

On January 21, 1858, the immense new St. Cloud hotel on Main street between Ninth and Tenth, 113x194 feet and five stories high and 200 rooms and nine fine store rooms, was burned. This was by far the worst fire ever here up to this date. (1) It had cost $95,000 to build and was insured for $80,000. (1)
