DUBUQUE CORRUGATED BOX COMPANY
DUBUQUE CORRUGATED BOX COMPANY. The City of Dubuque was definitely thriving in 1937 according to a report of the Chamber of Commerce. Two days after the announcement of the GENERAL DRY BATTERIES company opening a plant in Dubuque, Dubuque Corrugated Box Company leased space at the BRUNSWICK INDUSTRIAL BLOCK. The new factory, representing Cleveland headquarters for the Midwest and Northwest, was planning to cover 40,000 square feet. Sales representatives working out of Dubuque would operate in a territory to the Montana border.
The new plant was expected to be seven times as great as the current consumption of boxes in Dubuque. Heavy machinery had been ordered for cutting, pressing and fabricating. Renovation of the building included providing a new entrance.
While employment figures could not be immediately provided, Chamber officials found hope that this company would find mutual support in the other industries of Dubuque.
The 1937 Dubuque Consurvey Directory listed the corner of Jackson and 32nd.
