LEOPOLD, Donovan O. ("Don")
LEOPOLD, Donovan O. ("Don") (Lincoln, NB, 1926-Sun City, AZ, Jan. 15, 1987). Leopold served as the executive director, N.E. Iowa Council of the BOY SCOUTS of America (1950-1959). One of the region's most decorated scouting officials, he received the Silver Beaver Award for volunteer scouting in 1967. (1)
Leopold also received the Jaycee's Al Dupont Award for community service and leadership. In 1976, he received the International Golden Coin Award as co-author of Dubuque Folklore. In 1983 he was presented with the Distinguished Civic Service Award by the DUBUQUE AREA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE. (2) In 1964 he was a member of a group of the Dubuque Vacationland Committee that won first place for its promotional materials from the Iowa Development Council. (3) He was among the Ambassador Corps which traveled to Chicago to "sell" Dubuque as a tourist attraction in 1966. (4) In 1974 he was elected to the board of directors of FINLEY HOSPITAL (THE). (5)
