"LUCKLESS CHILDREN." John Rider WALLIS named the children of Larkin P. and Catherine (Bright) Luck, the “Luckless Children."

The headstone is a series of five markers in one stone. Their names were Ruby B. (May 9, 1832 – September 4, 1834), Lucy Ann (July 20, 1827 – November 2, 1834), Elizabeth Jane (February 28, 1826 – March 10, 1844), Almer A. (September 16, 1844 – August 14, 1845), Samuel N. (March 5, 1841 – September 1, 1845). It believed that they died a CHOLERA epidemic struck the settlement.

Five of the Luck children survived: Eliza, Catherine Kittie, Greenbury, George, and John. Greenbury went on to be one of the first Pony Express riders to deliver mail.
