INTERSTATE TELEPHONE COMPANY
INTERSTATE TELEPHONE COMPANY. Interstate Telephone Company was a branch of the DUBUQUE TELEPHONE COMPANY. Standard Telephone Company, which served customers in northeastern Iowa, used the lines of both. In 1901 poles to carry telephone lines were being installed in Potosi, Wisconsin and Filmore, SHAWONDASEE, the NEW MELLERAY MONASTERY, and were headed to LaMotte in Iowa. Interstate was credited with bringing lower telephone rates to Dubuque and demand for new phones in October 1902 exceeded supply.
