SCHERRER, Charles. (Dubuque, IA, Aug. 26, 1917--Dubuque, IA, June 20,1989). Veterans advocate. Scherrer, owner and operator of the Canfield Hotel from 1957 to 1988, was a charter member of the Iowa Am Vets and served as local commander and Iowa Commander from 1956 to 1957.
Scherrer was the program chairperson of the Tri-State Veterans Memorial Association and served in several state and national offices of the Am Vets.
