Wernke played fastpitch softball starting in the early 1950s into the 1980s. He was a shortstop with [[LANGE'S INSURANCE AGENCY]] for many years and played in five world tournaments. He managed the [[LUX CLUB]] team and took them to the world tournament in 1971, finishing in fourth place.

Wernke was one of the founders and charter board member of the [[DUBUQUE FASTPITCH SOFTBALL HALL OF FAME]] and was inducted as a player in 1984. In 1980 he was inducted into the Kiwanis Softball Hall of Fame.

WERNKE, Henry "Hank." (Luxemburg, IA, Oct. 15, 1934--Dubuque, IA, Apr. 20, 2013). The son of Henry E. and Ida E. (Digman) Wernke, Henry married Patricia A. Brimeyer, September 10, 1955 at SACRED HEART CHURCH. He worked at St. Regis/Georgia Pacific for forty years.

Wernke played fastpitch softball starting in the early 1950s into the 1980s. He was a shortstop with LANGE'S INSURANCE AGENCY for many years and played in five world tournaments. He managed the LUX CLUB team and took them to the world tournament in 1971, finishing in fourth place.

Wernke was one of the founders and charter board member of the DUBUQUE FAST PITCH SOFTBALL HALL OF FAME and was inducted as a player in 1984. In 1980 he was inducted into the Kiwanis Softball Hall of Fame.
