John was a contractor and developer for almost fifty years, operating Kivlahan & Sons Construction Co. and Kivlahan Farms LLC. His company developed Arbor Estates, Pebble Cove and Arbor Village Condominiums.

KIVLAHAN, John Henry. (Cascade, IA, May 13, 1933--Iowa City, IA, Mar. 20, 2012) John was the son of Lester and Margaret (Turnis) Kivlahan. After graduating from St. Mary's High School in Cascade, he served in the Army while stationed in Germany. He married Doris Recker on May 9, 1959, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Fillmore.

He was a member of St. Anthony's parish, the Home Builders Association and the Knights of Columbus Council 510.
