JOHN C. BECK. Business. After attending the Pharmacy Department of Highland Park College, John C. Beck began his apprenticeship in the pharmacy business in 1893. He was employed by the James A. Palen Pharmacy from 1897 to 1901 and worked at the Hervey Drug Store from 1901 to 1904.

From 1904 until the 1940s, Beck owned and managed his own pharmacy.

The 1929 Dubuque City Directory through the 1941 Dubuque City Directory listed 1501 Central.
