County recorder.  In 1888, upon the death of her father, [[LEWIS, Warner|Warner LEWIS]], Virginia assumed the duties of the office of county recorder.  She won election in the fall of 1888 and served in this position until 1890. She was defeated in a bid for re-election.  In 1903, she married Charles Wales, the second owner of the Wales Hotel.
