JURISDICTION. The area on which the City of Dubuque developed was subject to various territories and jurisdictions. These included:

under no jurisdiction Aug. 10, 1821-Sept. 30,1834
Territory of Michigan Oct. I, 1834-July3, 1836
Territory of Wisconsin July 4, 1836-July 3, 1838
Territory of Iowa July 4, 1838-Dec. 27, 1846
State of Iowa Dec. 28, 1846-
