Swift had been involved in many organizations and programs throughout her career including the Iowa Writing Project, the National Writing Project, Iowa Poetry Association, the National Council of Teachers of English, and the National Education Association and Iowa State Education Association. She had previously received several prestigious awards including the 2008 Dubuque Community School District Teacher of the Year, 2007 & 2005 Iowa Governor’s Scholastic “Favorite Teacher Award” Recognition, and the 2005 KWWL Gold Star Award for Outstanding Teaching. She was also a National Board Certified Teacher. | |||
