MCEVOY, John R. (Dubuque, IA, Jan. 30, 1912--Dubuque, IA, June 11, 1997). McEvoy began working for the Telegraph Herald in 1924 as a newspaper carrier and retired fifty-one years later as the city circulation manager.
In 1957 he and his son established a marina in Dubuque and later moved and established Mid-Town Marina Enterprises in East Dubuque, Illinois. They operated this business for twenty-one years. He was a founder of the Mid-Town Mariners' Boat Club and was an important supporter of the DUBUQUE BOYS' CLUB.
