F. S. JESUP AND COMPANY. This banking house opened business in April, 1853.  In August, 1853, Jesup & Co. agreed to take the entire issue of $20,000 city bonds, providing the city would give them a mortgage on the islands opposite the city as security. This was agreed to by the city council.  The Dubuque Savings Bank was opened by Jesup & Co. the same year. (1)
