Akzo Nobel Salt Inc.  Salt packing company. Located in Dubuque beginning in 1968, the company moved to new headquarters along Kerper Blvd. in 1993.  Serving customers within a three-hundred mile radius of Dubuque, the company crushed and screened salt from Louisiana and Utah.  The firm then stored and packaged the product for use in agricultural, chemical, water conditioning and de-icing markets.  At the new facility, company officials announced that it had processing capabilities of 75 tons hourly.

    Powder coatings (POW)
    Marine and protective coatings (MPC)

    Functional Chemicals (FC)
    Industrial Chemicals (IC), before 1 January 2009 known as Base Chemicals (BC)
    Pulp and Performance Chemicals, under brand name Eka Chemicals (PPC)

The divestment of the former business unit of Chemicals Pakistan was completed in Q1 2013.
 
As chemicals producer, AkzoNobel is a world leading salt specialist, chloralkali products, and other industrial chemicals. Ultimately, AkzoNobel products are found in everyday items such as paper, ice cream, bakery goods, cosmetics, plastics and glass. Each business unit has an annual turnover of approximately EUR 600–1000 million.
