TIMMONS, William E. (Stanley, WI-). Insurance Commissioner, State of Iowa. Timmons was Dubuque County's first assistant county attorney and served in the position for six years. From 1957 to 1959 he was a member of Governor Robert Ray's Commission on Human Relations. Appointed by the governor to become Iowa's insurance commissioner in 1963, Timmons also held the presidency of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners.

A graduate of LORAS COLLEGE, Timmons was admitted to the practice of law in February 1951 and entered general practice in Dubuque the same year. In 1991 he was a practicing attorney in Des Moines.
