Iowa Women's Hall of Fame. Recognition and honor for outstanding Iowa women. The Iowa Commission on the Status of Women established the Women's Hall of Fame in 1975. Each year the commission solicited nominations of women, living or deceased, who exerted an impact on the state and especially Iowa women. Four winners are chosen annually by a five-member selection committee composed of two public citizens and three commission members. The governor honors the inductees at a special ceremony in late August.

Among the women inducted into the Hall of Fame were the following from Dubuque:

Mary Newbury ADAMS 1981

Mary Francis CLARKE 1984

Anna LAWTHER 1985

Nancy HILL 1989

Ruth NASH 2004
