DIETRICH, John. (Prussia, May 27, 1827-May 10, 1921). Brick manufacturer. Dietrich, arriving in Dubuque in 1855, was a plasterer and manufacturer of lime for nineteen years.
In 1874 he began the annual manufacture of between 700,000 and 1,000,000 high quality bricks. Their superior quality made them popular among Dubuque builders and resulted in each order commanding the best prices.
