In 1928 Chewning was associated with Renier's Music House and was an instructor of music. In 1930-1931 he conducted the Dubuque Juvenile Band at the [[DUBUQUE BOYS' CLUB]] in which a young [[GRAAS, John|John GRAAS]] first learned to play an alto horn. In 1937, Chewning was the musical director of the Dubuque Municipal Band.

CHEWNING, Vincent. (Dubuque, IA--Dubuque, IA, Apr. 9, 1987). The son of Charles CHEWNING, Vincent attended COLUMBIA COLLEGE and graduated from BAYLESS BUSINESS COLLEGE.
