CATHOLIC DAUGHTERS OF AMERICA. Our Lady of Victory Court, Catholic Daughters of America, was organized in Dubuque during January 1919. The local court, beginning with one hundred twenty-five members, was number 351 in the national organization. Margaret Lucas was the first grand regent.
The Court made annual donations to local charitable organizations including the DUBUQUE BOYS' CLUB, VISITING NURSE ASSOCIATION, and Neighborhood House. The Court also made contributions to an endowed scholarship to COLUMBIA COLLEGE for the education of poor boys desiring to become priests.
For its membership, the Court sponsored recreational and education programs, annual Halloween and Valentine parties, and an outing to one of the local parks.
