BAKER, Martha. (Dubuque, IA-Dubuque, IA, Feb. 1962). Charter member of the [[Y.W.C.A.]] Baker, the daughter of [[BAKER, Francis McNear|Frances McNear BAKER]], was a member of the first building committee of the Y.W.C.A. She was also a founder of the [[VISITING NURSE ASSOCIATION]] in Dubuque.

In her later years, Baker fondly remembered a kiss she received at the age of three from Ulysses S. Grant and an annual charity ball given to raise funds for the [[HOME OF THE FRIENDLESS]], renamed [[MOUNT PLEASANT HOME]].
