Rohner, Mathias M. (Rockwell, IA, Dec. 31, 1908--Dubuque, IA, Apr. 1, 1982). Originally a deputy in the office of the county recorder, Rohner was appointed to the position upon the death of George C. FLANDERS in 1959.
Rohner was re-elected consistently until July 1981, when he resigned. The only electoral challenge he faced was in 1978 when he was challenged by Jo Ann McCauley whom he defeated in the primary by thirty-seven votes and later in the general election.
