Hackley became its publishers in 1854 and Hackley the sole owner and editor the following year. In 1857 the ''Tribune'' purchased the ''Dubuque Republican'' begun two years earlier. The combined newspapers continued as the ''Tribune'' until about 1860.

DUBUQUE TRIBUNE. The Dubuque Tribune was founded in 1847 by A. P. Wood. W.A. Adams and A.W. Hackley became its publishers in 1854 and Hackley the sole owner and editor the following year. In 1857 the Tribune purchased the Dubuque Republican begun two years earlier. The combined newspapers continued as the Tribune until about 1860.
