He served at Loras from 1995-2001. He was named president of Elms College in July 2001. In the two years he held that position, he spearheaded projects to increase student recruiting, resulting in 36 percent growth in enrollment; launched a strategic planning process and began implementing a 10 year facilities master plan; and oversaw a college evaluation that resulted in a 10 year reaccreditation.
