MCPOLAND, J. J. (Dubuque, IA, Feb. 24, 1852--Unknown). McPoland completed his formal education in Dubuque and went to work in the carriage works of Thomas CONNOLLY. He lived in Dubuque until 1877, when he moved to St. Joseph, Missouri. He worked for a time as a journeyman, and then branched into trade. The firm of McPoland & Farrell, rapidly became an important carriage manufacturer.
