EIGHMEY, Charles H. (Greenfield, NY, Nov. 28, 1834-Dubuque, IA, Aug. 28, 1921). Bank president. Eighmey came to Dubuque with his parents in 1850. Educated as an attorney in the law office of ex-Governor Stephen HEMPSTEAD, Eighmey practiced law in Dubuque from 1860 to 1870 as an associate of Judge D. N. COOLEY. During the CIVIL WAR, Eighmey had the particularly disliked job of local tax collector.
