J. W. Jeffers, Works Progress Administration (WPA) supervisor of music, led the harmonica classes. A graduate of the Band Masters School at Chaumout, France and a student of conducting at Lake Chautauqua, New York, Jeffers had previously organized harmonica bands across Iowa.
