ELLWANGER BROS. In 1869 Ellwanger Brothers established a harness shop at 1256 Central. In 1930 the company continued to ship their products as far as Montana and Texas. The firm made a specialty of hand-sewn harness.
The 1870-1871 Dubuque City Directory listed the east side of Clay between 12th and 13th.
The 1873-74 Dubuque City Directory listed the east side of Clay 4 north of 12th.
The 1874-1875 through 1930 Dubuque City Directory listed 1256 Clay.
