(Platteville, WI, June 28, 1875--Dubuque, IA, January 28, 1937).  A professional musician for many years, Leslie Chewning was associated with many Dubuque dance orchestras.  He and his brother [[CHEWNING, Charles|Charles CHEWNING]] had their own orchestra called the [[CHEWNING BROS. ORCHESTRA]].  Leslie was also the director of the [[CHEWNING-STUBER ORCHESTRA]]. His favorite instruments were the violin and clarinet.

Leslie retired from the music business in 1928 and went to work for the [[KLAUER MANUFACTURING COMPANY]].  He was the uncle of [[GRAAS, John|John GRAAS]]
