MONARCH GROCERY. Located at 8th and Main STREETS, the Monarch Grocery in 1905 was located where the Nesler Center was later constructed. The grocery was owned by John J. Schwietering and John F. Beringer.

The 1909 Dubuque City Directory and the 1913 Dubuque and Dubuque County Directory stated that this company was located at 813 Main.

The 1916-1917 White's Dubuque County Directory through the 1922 Dubuque Telephone Directory listed 475 Clay as the address.
