DAYKIN, Metcalf. (Dubuque County, IA, Mar. 20, 1848-- | DAYKIN, Metcalf. (Dubuque County, IA, Mar. 20, 1848--Dubuque, IA, July 22, 1922). Except for a nine years residence in Wisconsin, from 1851 to 1860, Daykin was a constant residence of Dubuque County. He was the postmaster of [[CENTER GROVE]] and, in partnership with his brother John T. Daykin, served as the proprietor of the [[THREE MILE HOUSE]]. The same partnership was also engaged in [[MINING]] by owning some fifteen acres of mining lots in the vicinity. | ||

He was the postmaster of CENTER GROVE and, in partnership with his brother John T. Daykin, served as the proprietor of the THREE MILE HOUSE.
