DECORATIVE WINDOW. Architects constructing QUEEN ANNE ARCHITECTURE style homes made use of dozens of revolutionary ideas. One of the most unique concepts called for splitting the flue above the chimney in a room and inserting a small window of colored glass. The flue continued upward into another room where again the part of a fireplace place that carried any smoke and most of the heat might then be split again before merging to proceed to the roof.

In the Dubuque of 2026 there were three known examples of these windows which were illuminated by sunlight.
