MAY, MacKenzie Caitlin ("Mac"). (Dubuque, IA-- ) May was a three-sport athlete at WAHLERT CATHOLIC HIGH SCHOOL playing four years of varsity volleyball, two years of varsity track and field and one year of varsity soccer. She was named MaxPreps and PrepVolleyball All-American as a junior and earned Second Team AVCA/Under Armour All-America as a senior. She led the Golden Eagles in kills all four seasons, earning First Team All-Freelance Conference every year. In 2016 she was named the 2016-2017 Iowa Gatorade Volleyball Player of the Year, leading the state with 6.8 kills per set; PrepVolleyball Senior Ace #10; Mississippi Valley Conference Player of the Year; and the Telegraph Herald Player of the Year her last two seasons. Wahlert won the State of Iowa Class 4A title in 2016 with May was designated the Tournament MVP, averaging 26 kills per match. She recorded over 1,700 kills and 150 aces during her career. (1)

In 2017 May was named All-Pac-12 Honorable Mention and Pac-12 All-Freshman Team leading the squad with 33 service aces, adding 2.59 kills, 1.06 digs and 0.42 blocks per set. She had 12 double-figure kills matches and at least a pair of aces in a dozen contests, ranking ninth among Pac-12 players in aces per set (0.30). May was named Pac-12 Freshman of the Week on August 28 after being named to the All-Tournament Team at the Texaco Rainbow Wahine Invitational, scoring 43 kills, 17 digs, six blocks and five aces. She was named Pac-12 Freshman of the Week for the second time on September 25 after scoring 12 kills and four digs against #8 Oregon (Sept. 22) and 13 kills, five digs, four blocks and three aces versus #21 USC (Sept. 20). In 2018 VolleyballMag.com named May Honorable Mention All-American, AVCA All-Pacific South Region Honorable Mention and All-Pac-12 Conference First Team honors after leading the team with 3.69 kills per set and 34 service aces, adding 1.86 digs per set. She was ranked fifth among Pac-12 players in aces per set (0.34), ninth in points per set (4.21) and 10th in kills per set. She led the team with eight double-doubles and 21 double-figure kills matches surpassing the 20-kill mark in three contests. She served a career-best four aces versus No. 25 Arizona State on October 10th. She recorded the first double-double of her career with 17 kills and 11 digs at Long Beach State on September 13th. She was named Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Week for the first time on September 3 following her play at the USD Invitational. Posting 14 kills, six digs and two aces a day earlier versus the Zags, she received Pac-12 All-Academic Honorable Mention. (3)

In December, 2019 as a UCLA junior, May received the Pac-12 Conference Volleyball Player of the Year honors. In the previous two springs, she helped the UCLA beach volleyball team to win back-to-back national championships and was an all Pac-2 freshman team player in 2017 when the team last made the indoor tournament. Mac was the Pac-12;s second leading scorer at 5.53 points per set with a conference-leading 0.41 aces per set average. She finished with 4,84 kills per set--second place in the league. Her kills and points averages are ranked 13th and 9th respectively nationally. (4)
